Arsenal boss, Arsene Wenger, has signed a new contract that will keep him at Arsenal until 2019.
Wenger met the majority shareholder of the club, Stan Kroenke and their decision were transmitted to the entire body today and an official announcement will be made by the club on Wednesday.
Arsenal ended in fifth places this season, which is the first time they will be missing out on UEFA Champions League football since he took charge of the club in 1996. But they ended the season on a high with an FA Cup win over Chelsea in Wembley.
Arsenal’s Most Successful Manager
Arsene Wenger is Arsenal’s most successful manager as he led the team to three Premier League, Unbeaten run in the league and 4 FA Cups titles in just his first season in charge. But he had to wait nine years before winning another trophy for the club in 2014 and winning it again in 2015.
This season Arsene Wenger has been faced with heavy criticism from fans of the club due to their poor league showing and their 10-2 aggregate loss to Bayern Munich in the first round of UEFA Champions League.
Although they ended the season with five victories in a row, it was not enough to get them a Champions League spot.
Arsenal Has Lost It
Gary Lineker feels like Arsenal are far off from other team and they have a long way to go if they want to meet up with their rivals. According to the former player, Sir Alex Ferguson is the only manager that chose the time that he wanted to leave his club but he was still successful at the club and left with a Premier League title. But he can’t say the same for Arsene Wenger. Who seem to have a lot of influence over the club’s hierarchy.
