Tennis: World Number 1 ‘Nadal’ pulls out of Basel


Current ranked world number 1 Rafael Nadal, has pulled out of the Basel Swiss indoors in a bid to prepare for the Paris Masters.

After a loss to Roger Federer at the Shanghai Masters, Nadal has decided to reschedule, following injury issues he sustained during the battle with the Swiss in Shanghai.

When Nadal was approached by reporters, he swayed away from questions bothering on his injury, stating that his injury troubles weren’t a topic of discussion. He said that after losing to Federer, a return to winning ways was his only priority.

He explained that he doesn’t know what his options for Basel are, his only focus right now is preparing for Paris.

We received confirmation that the Tennis star will be out of the Basel fixtures. His absence is geared toward his quick recovery and preparation for the finals in London as well as the Paris Tour.

Pulls Out Of Swiss Indoors

The Spaniard said he pulled out of the Swiss Indoors after listening to his doctor’s advice in Spain. He said his injury was a result of built-up pressure on his knee, stemming from intense practices and hectic Tennis fixtures.

Nadal said he felt the injury troubles in Shanghai, however, after duly considering his doctor’s advice; he was forced to pull out of Basel.

In a message to his fans, Nadal thanked them for their tremendous support and hoped to see them at the Basel indoors next season.

Federer is poised to capitalize on Nadal’s absence at the Swiss Indoors, the winner gets to go home with 500 points in the Kitty and Federer is looking to snatch all 500 points at home.
