The 12 time Grand Slam winner Novak Djokovic has stated that be out from active duties all through 2017 due to an elbow injury.
The elbow injury affected Novak Djokovic and he had to pull out of his quarter final match in Wimbledon against Tomas Berdych.
He explained after the tournament that he has had the injury for more than a year and had to play with the injury.
“This is not the best decision for me as a professional but it has to be made and I need to look at it from the positive side of it. He said after announcing the decision.
Novak Djokovic won his 68th title this year at the Aegon International in East Bourne.
Two Shocking Defeat In One Year
He lost out to Denis Istomin at the Australian Open in January as a defending champion and also lost out in French Open to Dominic Thiem in June in the quarter final stage where he was also the defending champion.
He further revealed that he would spend the time to work on his fitness levels and develops his strength. He is also revealed that he would also work on other areas that can improve his game.
“I still want to keep playing for a long time” He wrote on his Facebook page.
This means Novak Djokovic will miss out of this year’s US Open which is set to kick off on the 28th of August, which he won in 2011 and 2015.
His coach, Andre Agassi, has stated that he would stay with Novak Djokovic for next season.
