Glamour model and reality star Katie Price is under fire from anti-fur campaigners for wearing a new coat and hat made from 100 per cent raccoon fur.
The model posted an image of her on Instagram wearing the £395 racoon fur jacket as she set off to watch her husband Kieran Hayler during his horse riding lesson.
She said: “On my way to watch kieran have his jumping lesson, all cosy in my @popskilondonclothing coat and hat.”
However, the businesswoman now seems to have lost a swathe of fans as people, keen to buy the same coat as their idol, looked up the clothing only to find that it was made of real fur.
Fans and protestors immediately took to social media to lambaste the former I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here contestant. One said: “I actually have always championed you but now I have totally gone off you! You look at animals all around you everyday and your page is full of them and then you go out wearing them on your back like it’s so normal! Those raccoons were farmed and killed for that trim that you really don’t need in your life! You’ve lost a fan.”
Another said: “Wow! Unfollowed! Shocked you would advertise this! Just looked at their site and it’s “high end fur” still torturing animals however much high end. Use your platform to do good Katie and not advertise this horrific abuse!”
It’s not the first time the mother-of-five has fallen foul of anti-fur trade campaigners. She has previously faced criticism for dressing her daughters, Princess and Bunny, in fur hats made with real fox and raccoon fur.
