Halloween horror as knifeman goes on the rampage in London

One person has been killed and several others injured after a knifeman went on the rampage in London.
The knife-wielding attacker caused real terror on the streets in the capital after he went on a stabbing spree in Croydon, in south London, on Halloween.
Onlookers are understood to have called 999 and paramedics rushed to the scene, discovering one man dying at the scene, and another three injured victims lying close by. The victims were all young people in their twenties.
Ambulance staff did everything they could when they reached the scene at Gloucester Road, but they could do nothing to save one male victim.
All three other victims were rushed to hospital where one remains with what have been described as life-threatening injuries, while the other two are in a serious condition.
Eye witnesses reported seeing a woman, who is believed to be a family member of the man who lost his life, screaming: “He’s dead, he’s dead”.
One person at the scene said they heard shouting and then sirens and blue lights flashing by. They said they believed the dead man had been living on the street because they could hear grieving relatives wailing.
Police officers from Croydon Borough tweeted that they had units out on Gloucester Road responding to multiple stabbings.
According to Scotland Yard, a 22-year-old man has suffered life-threatening injuries in the attack, while another man was stabbed in his leg and a third received injuries to his back.
As yet, it remains unclear what led up to the attack or how, or whether, the victims knew each other.
No arrests have yet been made in connection with the stabbings, and police have yet to release any description of any suspect.
A police spokeswoman has confirmed that police were called to the scene just after eight by paramedics who were first to arrive.
Police have yet to formally identify the deceased and say they are busy telling next-of-kin.
A fourth man, who is also believed to be in his twenties, took himself to hospital with stab injuries which are not reported to be serious.
Police cordoned off the road and the crime scene remains in place while investigations continue.
According to latest statistics from the London Assembly, Croydon had one of the highest levels of youth violence in London over the past year.
