Fifth Season Of ‘Orange Is The New Black’ Leaked Online By Hacker

A hacker has leaked the new unpublished season of Orange is the New Black (OITNB). According to the Associate Press, the hacker stole the coming 5th season of OITNB show and released it on several file-sharing websites.

The Leak

The first 10 episodes of the upcoming were shared today on Saturday before 6 a.m. The hacker, named as the Dark Overlord, shared the first episode on different file-sharing services while the rest of the episodes are easily found on Pirate Bay website.

Netflix commented on the incident and said that they are “aware of the situation. A production vendor used by several major TV studios had its security compromised and the appropriate law enforcement authorities are involved.”

Even though the leak happened today, it is worthy to mention that the negotiations between the hacker and Netflix have been going around since February. However, the hacker had some demands that Netflix failed to accomplish.

Hacker Response

“It didn’t have to be this way, Netflix. You’re going to lose a lot more money in all of this than what our modest offer was.” the hacker stated earlier today. “We’re quite ashamed to breathe the same air as you. We figured a pragmatic business such as yourselves would see and understand the benefits of cooperating with a reasonable and merciful entity like ourselves.” the Dark Overlord continued.

The 5th season was supposed to air on Netflix on June 9th. Now that it is leaked, the numbers of viewers may be negatively affected. OITNB is not the only victim here as it is claimed that the hacker stole other shows as well but only leaked OITNB.

The hacker also warned other channels such as Fox and says: “And to the others: there’s still time to save yourselves. Our offer(s) are still on the table — for now.”
