Prince George and Princess Charlotte looked adorable as they accompanied their parents the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge for a Christmas Day trip to church. While other members of the royal family were gathering for the traditional celebration at Sandringham, Prince William and Kate decided to spend the day with her parents instead at Bucklebury in Berkshire.
It is thought the royal couple wanted their children to be able to have a more relaxed Christmas Day than that at Sandringham, where timings are planned with military precision. The couple were also joined by Kate’s parents and her siblings. The church is the same one where the Duchess of Cambridge’s sister Pippa is set to marry James Matthews next year.
The little princess looked cute as a button, with her burgundy tights matching her mum’s coat and clutch bag. Meanwhile, the prince was wearing a formal coat, just like his dad.
It is not the first time that Prince William and Kate have decided to spend time with the Middletons over the festive period. In 2012, Kate suffered from severe morning sickness while she was pregant with Prince George, and stayed with her parents who were helping to take care of her.
The royals would not normally have attended church with their children if they had gone to Sandringham. But, they clearly looked relaxed and at ease as they mingled with other churchgoers. Prince William could be seen chatting to Prince George as the pair walked into church together hand in hand, while Prince Charlotte was carried in her mother’s arms.
Senior royals who were celebrating at Sandringham made their way to a private mass for Christmas morning. However, the Queen was not present as she is still recovering from a heavy cold. The royals traditional Christmas lunch is usually followed by a shoot on Boxing Day.
